Two historical events mark their anniversaries this year鈥攖he Diliman Commune鈥檚 50th year and the 500th year of the Philippine leg of the globe鈥檚 first recorded circumnavigation. The UP Diliman Department of History will hold the 鈥淭alastasan sa Kasaysayan鈥� webinar series to commemorate these events, and everyone is invited to attend.

Held in celebration of 100 years of Philippine cinema, the two-day event started with inspiring messages from UP Diliman Chancellor Michael Tan, UP College of Mass Communication (UP CMC) Dean Elena Pernia, and UPFI Director Sari Dalena. Professor Wimal Dissanayake of the Academy for Creative Media, University of Hawaii delivered the keynote address that focused on 鈥淣ationhood, Cinema and the Public Sphere鈥�.
