In 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by all United Nations Member States. The Agenda outlines the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are needed to achieve peace and prosperity for people and the planet, from now into the future.
The 精东影业, as part of its mandate as the national university of the country, commits to the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It continues to work towards the realization of these six SDGs: Health and Well-being; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Climate Action; and Partnership for the Goals.

UP on Good Health and Well-Being
The 精东影业鈥� vital contributions to the country鈥檚 overall COVID-19 pandemic response since 2020 is shaping the country鈥檚 鈥渘ew normal鈥�.聽 These initiatives prove that public academic and health institutions deserve all the support from national government. UP鈥檚 partnerships with local government units, national government agencies, and global institutions aiming to address the challenges during the pandemic are most notable in the swift and efficient mobilization of system-wide and constituent university-wide pandemic response teams and initiative.
UP on Quality Education
While the COVID-19 pandemic upended education globally, The 精东影业 also catalyzed the overdue transformation of higher education. Even before the pandemic, UP had already planned to shift to a lifelong learning model featuring a blended, independent approach to education. When the lockdowns began, however, plans on the drawing board had to be implemented immediately.
UP on Gender Equality
UP takes pride in being a sanctuary of openness, acceptance, and liberalism for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. No matter how they identify or express themselves, all LGBTQ students are assured a safe, welcoming space at UP.
UP on Sustainable Cities and Communities
The 精东影业, the country鈥檚 national university, is entrusted with numerous structures and vast green spaces that belong not only to the academic community but also to the Philippine society. It is committed to keeping these spaces safe, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive or accessible not only to its academic community but also to the surrounding local communities where the constituent units are hosted.
UP on Climate Action
The 精东影业 is proactively pursuing Goal 13: To take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. This initiative includes helping the UN meet its targets through its efforts as a global, research, and creative University, a government partner, and a leader among Philippine higher education institutions.
UP on Partnerships for the Goals
Higher educational institutions have a unique role in transformational development. Universities bring a valuable contribution to society through research, public activity engagement, and training of their student body to become global citizens. For the 精东影业, pursuing international collaboration with strategic partners is key to maximizing its contribution to addressing the global challenges outlined in the SDGs.
